In mythology, Mneme was the muse of memory. Also known as Mnemosyne. According to Hesiod, the Ancient Greek poet, Mnemosyne was the mother of the Nine Muses.

In ‘Orlando’, Virginia Woolf writes:

“Memory is the seamstress, and a capricious one at that. Memory runs her needle in and out, up and down, hither and thither. We know not what comes next,or what follows after.”
